Teori og praksis i lærerutdanningen – mot en deliberativ tilnærming?

Artikkelen undersøker hvordan forholdet mellom teori og praksis i lærerutdanningen kan forstås slik at både profesjonsrelevans og et demokratisk, kritisk utdanningsformål ivaretas. Med utgangspunkt i hermeneutiske og kritiske perspektiver drøftes fremstillinger av forholdet mellom teori og praksis i lærerutdanningen, og relasjonen til bestemte oppfatninger av kunnskap, kvalitet og utdanningsformål. En overnasjonal konkurranse om økt kvalitet, evidensbaserte praksiser og «mer» læring kan ses som en dominerende trend på utdanningsfeltet. Artikkelen argumenterer for at en ensidig orientering mot kvalitet, forstått i relasjon til evidens og kontroll, kan innsnevre undervisningens relasjonelle, kontekstuelle og normative sider. På bakgrunn av dette foreslås deliberativ demokratiteori som en mulig tilnærming til å forstå samspillet mellom teori og praksis i lærerutdanningen. Med en deliberativ tilnærming møtes forholdet mellom teori og praksis som et spørsmål om hvordan ulike kunnskapsformer kan inngå i et legitimt og kritisk samspill. Deliberativ demokratiteori introduseres som et analytisk og normativt rammeverk som flytter oppmerksomheten fra effektiv implementering og kontroll til argumentasjon, gjensidig prøving av premisser og profesjonell dømmekraft. Artikkelen synliggjør samtidig at deliberasjon ikke opphever maktasymmetrier, men fordrer kritisk refleksjon over deltakelse, fortolkningsforrang og asymmetriske maktforhold.
